Abstract

Soursop (Annona muricata L.) is a plant species whose fruits and leaves
are utilized for traditional medicine. Soursop leaves contain several
secondary metabolite compounds such as polyphenols, triterpenoids,
saponins, and flavonoids. Soursop leaves have potent properties to cure
cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the flavonoid levels
in soursop leaf samples (Annona muricata L.) found in Kp.cihuni using
the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method. This research is descriptive and
conducted qualitatively and quantitatively. Soursop leaf samples were
taken from 7 soursop leaf trees in Kp. cihuni. Soursop leaves were
aerated and pollinated by blending to form fine simplisia. The simplisia
was macerated for 5 days using 96% ethanol solvent. The extract was
tested qualitatively with magnesium metal reagent and concentrated
HCl to produce yellow-orange color. Flavonoid levels in the extract
samples were tested quantitatively using quercetin solution as a
comparator at a wavelength of 435 nm obtained a calibration curve
equation y=0.0379×-0.7298, where y = absorption, x = concentration
and correlation coefficient (R2) 0.9739. Flavonoid levels in each sample
are sample 1 by 1.6276%, sample II by 1.2484%, sample III by 1.4218%,
sample IV by 1.8301%, sample V by 1.2971%, sample VI by 1.3058% and
sample VII by 1.9364%.
