High blood pressure is the number one cause of preventable disease
and death in the world. High blood pressure is currently the number one
killer in the world. The disease is widespread in developed countries
with changing times, patterns and lifestyles. Nearly 1 billion people
worldwide have high blood pressure. By 2020 about 1.56 billion adults
will be living with hypertension. This figure is likely to increase to 50%
by 2025, of the 1 billion people with hypertension, 33.3% are in
developed countries and the remaining 66.7% are in developing
countries, including Indonesia. Hypertension is a condition where
systolic blood pressure is 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure is 90
mmHg after repeated examinations both in clinics and at home. This
research method uses an experimental with a pretest-posttest design
with a control group (pretest-posttest control group design) to
determine the difference in the effect of giving celery herb steeping
bags (Apium graveolens L.) on lowering blood pressure in elderly people
with hypertension. The results of this study are also supported by nonparametric
statistical tests, with a significance value of p value < α value
with a significance level of α = 0.005. The significance value based on
the Wilcoxon statistical test is. It is concluded that there is an effect of
giving celery leaf decoction water on lowering blood pressure in elderly
people with hypertension at the Kimia Farma 308 Garut Pharmacy.
