CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN COFFEE CONSUMERS BASED ON RESPONDENT CHARACTERISTICS

Coffee contains more than a thousand molecules of substances, some of which are associated with lipid metabolism that could theoretically affect serum lipid profiles. Kafestol, one of the substances in coffee when consumed in excessive amounts, can increase free fatty acids and cholesterol in the blood so that it can cause fat deposits and plaques that will stick and can cause blockages in artery walls. This study uses a descriptive method aims to determine the description of cholesterol levels in coffee consumers. The number of samples used was 26 coffee-consuming respondents in Tarogong Kidul District coffee shops. The results showed that 30.77% had abnormal cholesterol levels. Many factors affect cholesterol levels in coffee consumers, so further research is needed to include other influences besides coffee consumption
