A positive coping mechanism is needed by Hypertension patients. To cope with stress that release, patients should
orient to how they can press their emotional and how the problem can be fixed. This study was to know how
hypertension patients cope in daily life. Several of 2.617 were a population of this study under Pasundan Public
Health Centre. The respondents were chosen by purposive sampling. The instrument used was hypertension coping
mechanism questioner. The results showed that the respondents were in late adulthood, pre-elderly and elderly. In
terms of educational status, most of them had junior and senior high school education, with the majority of the
respondents being male. Furthermore, more than half of the respondents have maladaptive coping mechanisms (53
respondents, 54.6%). It is suggested that health promotion in hypertensive patients involves the patient's
psychological condition so that the coping mechanism of hypertensive patients increases.
